Our Mission
Bringing joy through the perfect blend of nature and craftsmanship
Our Story
Sprout Scouts began in a small workshop in 2022, founded by Steven and Hayley who shared a passion for woodworking and houseplants. But the seeds of this project were planted much earlier, when Steven, one of our founders, was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult—a revelation that helped make sense of a lifetime of experiences.
The diagnosis became even more meaningful when Steven's son was also diagnosed with ADHD a few years later. Watching his son navigate the same challenges he had faced—but now with understanding and support—sparked a desire to create something that could help change the narrative around neurodiversity.
"I spent most of my life thinking I was broken or defective," Steven shares. "When I finally understood that my brain just works differently—and that those differences come with unique strengths—it changed everything. I wanted to create something that could help other people, especially children, see their neurodivergent traits as superpowers rather than deficits."
What started as a personal healing journey soon resonated with others. Friends and family began requesting these charming wooden characters for their own plants, and soon local craft fairs and markets were buzzing about the cute planters that gave personality to plants while sparking conversations about neurodiversity.
Today, our small team of craftspeople continues to design and create each Sprout Scout with the same care and attention to detail as those first prototypes. We've grown, but our mission remains the same: to bring joy through the perfect blend of nature and craftsmanship, while helping normalize and celebrate neurodiversity in all its forms.
Our Values
